Faith statement is not a creed but, rather, what the Scriptures say about the foundations of what we believe.

Hebrews 6:1-2

1  Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

Scripture

The Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

God or the Godhead

The Bible reveals that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of men” (John 1:1-4).

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).

“No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him” (John 1:18).

The Deity of Jesus

John revealed that “the Word was God” and “the Word was made flesh” (John 1:14).  Jesus is “God manifest in the flesh” (1 Timothy 3:16).

The Gospel

1 Corinthians 15:1-8

 1    Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

2    By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

3    For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4    And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

5    And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:

6    After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

7    After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.

8    And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

Water Baptism

Romans 6:3-4

3    Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

4    Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Baptized with the Holy Spirit

“For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. . . . But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:5, 8).

Crucified with Christ

How then shall I (we) live?  As a radical.

“ I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).

A radical rejects the world’s philosophies or religions as the foundation for living life (Colossians 2:8).  A radical is to “live by the faith of the Son of God”, which means living your life in the same way that Jesus lived His life before His Father.

Salvation

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13). “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

“He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the Name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18).
